1. Temptation – The Appearance of Good

Satan pretends to be “better than God,” shows himself to be a friend, and is a master of illusion. He is far more intelligent than man. So how do we respond to his temptations that have the appearance of good? Jesus gives us an example.

Jesus was tempted by the devil.

If Jesus was tempted, then all of us have been, are, and will be tempted. Temptations hide under the guise of goodness. And the most perverse is that Satan even motivates them with quotes from Scripture. These temptations strike at God and at man, who destroys himself and his life.

Jesus gives us an example of how to respond to temptations. The most important principle is not to avoid being drawn into a dialogue with an evil spirit. Jesus’ response consists in simply quoting Scripture. Jesus does not advance any argument of his own. He just quotes the Bible. In this way, Jesus holds fast to God the Father, His inspired Word. He does not rely on his own wisdom, but on God.

This is the contrary of what Eve did in Eden when she engaged in a dialogue with the evil spirit and fell into sin. In doing so, she harmed herself, her husband, and her children.

3. Today

Sometimes we make a mistake and in temptation we are left alone, ashamed before God, ashamed to ask Him for help. And that is precisely when we cannot be left alone with the evil spirit, because we will surely lose. This is when we need God the most. He will help us if only we ask Him to.

1. La tentación – La apariencia del bien

Satanás pretende ser “mejor que Dios”, se presenta como un amigo y es un maestro de la ilusión. Es mucho más inteligente que el hombre. Entonces, ¿cómo responder a sus tentaciones que tienen apariencia de bien? Jesús nos da un ejemplo.

Si Jesús fue tentado, entonces todos nosotros hemos sido, somos y seremos tentados. Las tentaciones se esconden bajo la apariencia del bien. Y lo más perverso es que Satanás incluso las motiva con citas de la Escritura. En realidad, estas tentaciones golpean a Dios y al hombre, que se destruye a sí mismo y a su vida.

Jesús nos da un ejemplo de cómo responder a las tentaciones. El principio más importante es no dejarse arrastrar al diálogo con un espíritu maligno. La respuesta de Jesús consiste simplemente en citar la Escritura. Jesús no presenta ningún argumento propio. Se limita a citar la Biblia. De este modo, Jesús se aferra a Dios Padre, a su Palabra inspirada. No se apoya en su propia sabiduría, sino en Dios.

Esto es lo contrario de lo que hizo Eva en el jardín de Edén cuando dialogó con el espíritu maligno y cayó en el pecado. Así, se perjudicó a sí misma, a su marido y a sus hijos.
