Catechesis for the deaf, led by the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference on the Holy Easter Triduum – is this year’s form of wishes for Easter in sign language. “Hallelujah. Best wishes” – Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki mime at the end of the movie.

For several years, the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference has been regularly recording his short message to the deaf people using sign language. “My pupils often live in the sphere of silence, and the Internet attracts them a lot. That is why such recordings always enjoy a keen interest and gratitude from the deaf” – says to KAI (Katholic Press Agency), Fr. Marcin Płóciennik, archdiocesan chaplain to the deaf.

In the movie, Archbishop Gądecki explains the meaning of each day of the Holy Easter Triduum, and the viewers can see photos of the celebrated liturgy on the computer screen.

The Deaf of Hearing Ministry of the Archdiocese of Poznań operates at the church of St. John Jerozolimski Outside the Walls in Poznań and in five major cities of the diocese – Środa Wlkp., Szamotuły, Leszno, Gostyń and Grodzisk Wlkp. Its activities cover 2 thousand people with various hearing impairments.

According to data from the Central Statistical Office reports, “The state of health of the population in Poland”, 14 percent of people with disabilities aged 15-70 have a hearing impairment, which gives the number of about 850 thousand people. It is assumed that one hundred thousand people in Poland use sign language.
